Statistics is the study of the collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and organization of data. In applying statistics to, e.g., a scientific, industrial, or societal problem, it is conventional to begin with a statistical population or a statistical model process to be studied.
This course is an introduction to statistical concepts and methods. Topics include descriptive measures of data, probability and probability distributions, statistical inference, tests of hypotheses, confidence intervals, correlation, linear regression, and analysis of variance. Students apply their learning with multiple projects throughout the year where they get to investigate their own chosen real world data with the aid of technology. Students have the option of completing extra preparation and taking the AP statistics course in the spring.
